FIRED UP!

July 14, 2011 Leave a comment

It has been a while since I have last posted on the site, somewhat of a reoccurring theme, however you all have not been left out with nothing to read at Overraidedblog.com. I am happy to say that Overraided has added 5 new writers to the team, all of which seem to have great promise. They will inevitably pick up the slack I bring to the table and be able to fill the void I leave behind when I disappear for 3 weeks at a time. (I am trying to fix this I swear.) Read more…

Man on the Run!

It is amazing how fast your life can change in such little time. For the longest time I have been a “Raider”. If you have been following my blog since inception you know a little bit about my past, and know that raiding is everything in the World (Of Warcraft) to me and nothing else holds a candle too it.  This is no longer the case, and although it may shock some of you, it shocks me even more. I had suspended myself from raiding for about a month before something happened due to real life, but I always imagined I would come back. Read more…

Here’s Daddy!

Bartol would like to dedicate this pic to all gnomes being punted. We will have our revenge!

As I mentioned last week I have disappeared from the WOW community and the World itself. If you read my last post you would know I have a lot of things going on….or HAD a lot going on.

The Bulls epic collapse was painful to watch. I cannot even put it into words, a common issue I have, and about how I felt about the last 4 times I saw my beloved Bulls take the court. I know they have a bright future ahead of them, but I have been through a lot of Sports pain this year and this Team was supposed to be different. If the Cannucks and Heat both end up winning it all (and they are in the finals playing the best they have all year), all of my Chicago sports teams would have been knocked out of the playoffs by the eventual champion. (Bears, Bulls, Blackhawks). Moral of the story, TV just got about 100% less interesting to me. Read more…

I’m Good at Sports!

In my gaming world DOTA (Defense of the Ancients) has made a roaring comeback. For those of you who do not know what DOTA is it is a custom Warcraft 3 game that is largely popular and the play-style has been copied by games like HON (Heroes of Newerth) and League of Legends. Normally me and 4 other of my closest compadres talk & game over vent; it is an all around good-ole time whenever we are not raiding. Like most video games the reward comes from having a winning team and a losing team clearly defined when it is over. The result is derived from direct head to head competition and it can be very entertaining and exciting. Basically DOTA is an E-sport, something that is missing from World of Warcraft’s PVE environment. Read more…

Bring It!

Well it finally happened, after the long drawn out process of applying, interviewing and crying I am no longer on the job market I finally landed a great job. (Sorry blizzard you can remove me from consideration for all of your open positions.) I am so stoked you have no idea (and probably don’t care), but the good news for you is no longer will you see me open my blog posts with obsessive whining about being poor. I will finally join the ranks of the “normal” people in the world when it comes to occupation (not personality). Read more…

Loyalty Bringing Royalty

March 25, 2011 Leave a comment

I guess my obsessive QQ and complaining about the current job market actually did me some good. (Probably not) This past two weeks I have been on more interviews then I have run random heroics (4 🙂 ). It is because of this reason I did not post last week, but since Eldoric posted his first OverRaided article I figured it would be ok. (It was a great read btw, WTB more)

On my many interviews one of the most frequently asked questions I got was “Do your current employers know you are looking for new work, and if not do you consider yourself a loyal/dedicated employee?” Obviously I was not thinking about WOW at the time, but when I look back at this question I realize this concept of loyalty can very much be applied to WOW. There are of course many different levels of it and different types/degrees too.

In WOW (and I am talking in Guilds, if you are guild-less then you really have loyalty to no one…) there are two groups of people who have a responsibility to stick to their word and remain loyal for a guild to succeed. The leadership of a guild must be loyal to their members, and a guild’s members must be loyal to their leadership. (Assuming of course that you would like to be a successful guild, if you do not want to be successful then don’t listen to my excessive rambling.) Read more…

Add it Up.

Back in the day when my college roommate and I would game together, he would give me a bunch of grief whenever he glanced over to my screen due to the amount of add-ons I run at one time. Years later I am running more now than ever, but it is because I like the look. I know some of the “Elites” out there are thinking to themselves….

“Wow this scrub uses so many add-ons; they are just playing the game for him.”

To this I would respond…”That is not true, I am a DK. I can just punch my keyboard and things die. The add-ons just make it nice and cool looking.”

(P.S. To my Raid Leader – I keed I Keed… Read more…
